Moving from one location to the next requires a lot of organizational skills to keep yourself calm and reduce stress. One of the worst things that can happen during a move is not being able to find the essential things you need during the unpacking process. When you get to your new location, you are going to have dozens of moving boxes scattered around, so you must label each box properly. Here are some tips for properly labeling your moving boxes.

How to Properly Label Your Moving Boxes

1. Label Your Boxes by Contents and Room – We recommend putting a label on the box for “Kitchen,” “Living Room,” “Master Bedroom,” etc. This will help the movers know which room to put the box in. We also recommend adding a note on the box for yourself that lists the contents of the box. By listing out what items are inside the box, you’ll be able to find the things you are looking for with ease.

2. Label Your Boxes by Color –Another tip is to use a different colored marker for each room in your house. By color coding, you’ll make it easier to move the boxes around and know which box is which just by glancing at it.

3. Number Your Moving Boxes –Numbering your boxes is the best way to ensure that nothing gets lost or misplaced. For example, you may want to label your boxes “Living Room 1/10”. This way, you’ll know there should be ten boxes in your living room.

4. Label the High Priority Boxes – Make sure to mark anything that is carrying precious items with the word “Fragile.” We also recommend packing an “Open First” box that contains any essential documents, kitchen supplies, and bathroom supplies that will help you settle into your new home.
